This is a project between North East England schools and the Children’s Computer Club in rural Nigeria. [stop press Vadgam Village, India just joined] The participants are to engage in keeping a diary that tells the story of their lives and the place they live largely in pictures. This will be a multi diary hopefully reflecting a diverse set of images and stories. It is hoped that the project will develop transnational relationships whilst developing digital skills and encouraging collaboration.

Africa Calling

A two way flow of information in a simple informal way, then gradually building more skills and friendships and understanding. It will be about daily life - ordinary details of life that are extra-ordinary to people far away - what we eat for breakfast, how we take a shower, how we get to school, how we help our families, traffic lights, railway announcement boards, cows in pickup trucks and pigs on motorbikes (being taken to market), what difference it makes to us if the electrical power goes off (or comes on), playing football, supporting our favourite teams, buying bread or bananas etc, cooking chicken, what a cactus looks like, where you’d find a coconut, taking a taxi or bus etc.
